Ambrogio Racing has announced that South Africa’s Brad Binder will be remaining with the Italian team for the 2014 Moto3™ season, with an option to step up to Moto2™ the following year.
Binder made his World Championship debut with RW Racing GP for five
appearances in the 125 class of 2011, then stepping up to Moto2™ with
the same team in 2012. He joined Ambrogio at the start of this season,
with his best result to date having been fourth at the Spanish GP in
Jerez.
“I'm extremely happy to have this opportunity to work with the team
again next year,” says Binder. “Everything the team has done has been
great – never any problem with the team – but our bigger issue has been
with the engine this year; as soon as we can improve it, I guarantee we
can be fast up front. So, going into next year I'm more than confident
that we can have a very good season and hopefully fight for the top five
in the championship.”
Team Principal Fiorenzo Caponera is also pleased to have completed the deal.
“I'm really satisfied to have reinforced our partnership with Brad,”
Caponera comments. “Having had the chance to work together in this first
part of the season, we realized how fast a rider and nice a fellow he
is. We are convinced he can be one of those rider of ours that, as in
the past, have stressed with their results and our aptitude as a team,
to work with young talented riders.
“We are so convinced that we signed an option with Brad - in case he
wants to upgrade to Moto2™ in 2015, he's going to do that with us.”
Binder celebrated his 18th birthday earlier in the month of August.
